Dental emergencies don’t wait for convenient times. That’s why, at Innisfil Dental Smile Solutions in Innisfil, emergency patients are always welcomed the same day whenever possible. We offer an emergency dentist that aims to schedule you immediately to assess the area of concern. While we can usually schedule you for a same-day examination, treatment may be scheduled for a later date depending on the situation. We make sure to book you right away rather than making you wait for a callback. If you have a dental emergency, please call us and we’ll fit you in.

Examples of Dental Emergencies

A dental emergency is any oral health issue that requires prompt attention to relieve pain, prevent infection, or reduce the risk of further damage. Some common examples include:

Severe toothache or dental pain – Persistent or intense pain may indicate infection, decay, or trauma and should be assessed as soon as possible.

Swelling of the face, gums, or jaw – Swelling can be a sign of an abscess or infection and may worsen quickly if not addressed.

Chipped, cracked, or broken teeth – Injuries from accidents, falls, or biting on hard objects can damage a tooth and may require urgent evaluation.

Knocked‑out (avulsed) tooth – A tooth that has been knocked out due to trauma is time‑sensitive and should be seen immediately.

Loose or displaced teeth – Teeth that feel loose or have shifted position following an injury should be assessed promptly.

Dental abscess or signs of infection – Symptoms may include pain, swelling, a bad taste, fever, or a pimple‑like bump on the gums.

Bleeding that does not stop – Ongoing bleeding from the mouth or gums, especially after trauma or a procedure, may require urgent care.

Lost fillings, crowns, or bridges causing pain – While not always an emergency, this can become urgent if it causes significant discomfort or sensitivity.

Injury to the soft tissues of the mouth – Cuts or trauma to the lips, tongue, cheeks, or gums that are painful or bleeding heavily should be evaluated.

If you are unsure whether your concern qualifies as a dental emergency, it is always best to contact the office so the situation can be assessed and appropriate guidance provided.
